What does WebCease do? +
WebCease, Inc. helps heirs, executors, trustees and administrators find online accounts that are digital assets for the estate of the deceased. WebCease's service identifies the active online accounts and instructs on the different options for retrieval, closure or memorialization in accordance with the policies of each site. WebCease also helps reduce the risk of identity theft. We offer a Basic Report service for individuals and a Pro Report service for legal professionals.
Can WebCease hack into an active account? +
No. The terms and conditions for most sites state that it is a violation of policy for someone to log into another person’s account.
Can WebCease close any accounts or retrieve digital assets? +
WebCease will only identify the active accounts and instruct on the different options for retrieval, closure or memorialization in accordance with the policies of each site. We will not take any actions on behalf of the family, executor, representative or estate.
What information do I need to have to get started? +
For a Basic Report, you will need to have the decedent’s full legal name, email address(es), and date of death.
My family member passed away 18 months ago. Can I still use WebCease? +
Yes. However, in our experience, the best results happen when you use our service within 12 months of the date of death. Many online accounts can be closed due to inactivity according to site policies.
Do you search the entire Internet? +
No. We focus on the top online accounts across eight major categories.
What do I get in a Basic Report or a Pro Report? +

When will I receive my Basic Report or Pro Report? +
You should expect to receive your Basic Report or Pro Report within five (5) business days. In the event of a delay, our customer support team will contact you with updated information.
